Power Plate My3 Vs My5

The Power Plate is an advanced, whole body vibration machine that uses Acceleration Training to stimulate the body's natural response to vibration. The three-dimensional vibration technology offers many benefits including increased circulation and blood flow, improved range of motion, increased muscle strength and flexibility, decreased cellulite, reduced pain and soreness, increased bone mineral density and faster recovery.

Whether you are a fitness/medical professional or everyday user, the Power Plate is designed for both personal and commercial use. It is ideal for anyone who wants a full-body workout that includes strength training, stretching, massage and relaxation, in a shortened period of time--as little as 15 minutes a day, 3 days a week.

Power Plate My3

The My3 is the smallest and most economical model in the personal Power Plate line and will fit into any size home, apartment or office. It weighs 126 lbs. and is a metallic silver color. The maximum load it can hold is 264 lbs. The My3 allows for 30- or 60-second sets at a frequency of 35 Hertz (amount of vibrations per second) and an amplitude (distance the plate moves vertically per vibration) of either "Low" or "High."

Power Plate My5

Like the My3, the My5 will also fit into any size home, apartment or office, but it has a bigger base for more variable exercises and a maximum load of 300 lbs. It weighs 200 lbs. and is metallic silver in color. The My5 allows for 30- or 60-second sets at a frequency of 30, 35 or 40 Hertz and an amplitude of either "Low" or "High."

Cost and Warranties

In 2009, the cost difference between the two versions is $2,001. The My3 was $2,499; the My5, $4,500. Per the Power Plate website, the warranty for both models applies to use in the home only and covers materials/parts to rebuild, repair or replace the equipment for two years. It also covers the labor cost to rebuild or repair the equipment for one year.

Proper Power Plate Set-Up

It is important to make sure you have the right type of space available before you purchase the Power Plate. Make sure you have a hard, level surface area free of obstructions within at least 3 feet of the machine. It should never be used outdoors, near a pool or any other source of water or extreme humidity. In addition, always plug the machine into a properly grounded electrical outlet. Unplug the machine before cleaning or servicing it.

Power Plate My3 or My5

Both the Power Plate My3 and Power Plate My5 come with two upper-body straps and three contoured mats made of varying thicknesses. Download posters, exercise guides and instructional videos from the Power Plate website so you can properly use the machine in your home or office.

When comparing the My3 and My5 side-by-side for personal home or office use, a few features make one stand out more than the other. Although the My3 is less expensive, it is limited in features and holds less weight, which means less stability for larger/stronger individuals. The vibration of the My3 also has less base disbursement for the vibration, so the intensity felt throughout the body, including the head, is often too much for the general consumer to handle. Even though the cost is higher, you will enjoy using the My5 more than the My3, making the machine's value higher. All these factors makes the Power Plate My5 the more ideal option for both personal home and office use.
