Vegetarian Alkaline Foods

You can eat a vegetarian diet that is high in alkaline foods.


If you are a vegetarian and on an alkalizing diet, it is important to eat vegetarian foods that are extremely alkaline. Although many vegetarian foods are very acidic, there are also a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and legumes that are very alkaline and can be consumed on an alkalizing diet.


Fruits


Fruits that are alkaline will have low amounts of acid, and include lemons, tomatoes, avocados, grapefruit and apricots. Avoid fruits that are high in citric acid, such as oranges, strawberries, grapes, apples and cherries.


Vegetables


Vegetable that are more alkaline include onions, cauliflower, spinach, green beans, carrots, celery, broccoli, kale and garlic. Avoid highly acidic vegetables, such as corn, cabbage or pumpkin.


Nuts, Seeds, Legumes


Alkaline nuts, seeds and legumes include almonds, pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds, lentils and flax seeds. Avoid acidic nuts, seeds and legumes like pistachio nuts, peanuts or cashew nuts.
