Established in 1980, the Hamrick School is a vocational institute that carries the accreditation of the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology. Educational programs at the school's main campus in Medina include commercial truck driving, massage therapy and medical assisting. Both allied health programs include hands-on practice in laboratory settings and a final, culminating externship in a real health care provider's office. The trucker training program features classroom-based study and driving practice with a licensed instructor. Medical Transcription Education Center


A private trade school, the Medical Transcription Education Center is 12 miles from Medina (approximately 22 minutes by automobile) in the town of Fairlawn. The school opened in 1996 and carries the accreditation of the Approval Committee for Certificate Programs, a joint task force of the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity and American Health Information Management Association. The only program offered is a 1-year certificate in medical transcription, which is available both in a classroom-based format and as distance education. The school participates in Sallie Mae student loan programs and accepts major credit cards. Job placement assistance is offered by the school at the conclusion of its programs.
