Cervical nerve damage
is any damage to the nerves in the cervical region of the spine, which includes the neck. There are a few telltale symptoms that can help indicate cervical nerve damage.
Pain and Discomfort
As with any sort of nerve damage, you'll more than likely begin to suffer some pain and discomfort. This may be dull or shooting in nature, but will generally take place in the neck, shoulders and arms. In some cases, this pain may also spread down into your chest.
Numbness
More often than not, nerve damage to the cervical region of the spine will also bring about numbness. Much like the pain, the numbness may show up in the neck, shoulders and arms, as well as the hands and fingers.
Lack of Coordination
This particular kind of nerve damage has been known to affect coordination in the fingers and hands.
Tingling
Many people who suffer cervical nerve damage experience a tingling or prickling sensation in the hands.
Weakness
Most nerve damage, including in the cervical region of the spine, can prompt a certain amount of weakness. This weakness will generally affect your arms and hands.
