The Procedures For A Body Wrap

Body wraps have become quite popular and while they are often done in spas you can also do them at home. Body wraps are thought to help with weight loss along with flushing toxins out of the body. The procedure is simple and can be done easily by following a few simple steps. Make sure you have purchased all of the necessary supplies ahead of time to ensure you are able to complete the body wrap successfully. Does this Spark an idea?

Body Wrap Solution

To make a basic detox body wrap you will need the following ingredients: one cup of mineral, Epsom or sea salts, three cups of either spring or purified water, one half cup of Aloe Vera juice and three tablespoons of either shea, olive, or sunflower oil. You may also add one and two teaspoons of your favorite essential oil.

Mix all ingredients together in the water and heat on the stove in a large pot. Stir to combine all ingredients. Remove from the heat and let the solution cool off very slightly. You may now pour the mixture into a large bucket or cooler. The solution should still be warm but not so warm that it will burn the skin.

Supplies

You will need to purchase several large rolls of elastic ace bandages. These come in many different sizes. The wider and longer the ace bandage, the more area you will be able to cover. Buy enough to cover the body from the upper chest area to the feet. Instead of using the metal clip in the ace bandage package, use safety pins to secure the bandages after they have been wrapped around the body.

Another good thing to have for your body wrap is a PVC work-out suit. These are made of cheap rubber and encourage sweating. They are one size fits all and can be found at most sporting goods store. The rubberized suit will help remove the toxins from the body as you perspire.

Start the Wrap

You may want to raise the heat in your home or add a small heater to your bathroom. It can get chilly when doing a body wrap.

Bring your water solution into the bathroom and add the ace bandages to the solution to soak up the water. Place towels on the floor to capture drips and spillage while the wrapping is taking place. If needed, add some cooler water to get to the right temperature of not too hot, but not cold.

Disrobe and begin wrapping the bandages around the body. Starting at the ankles, wrap the bandages tightly around the body until both legs, both arms and the torso and chest are covered. Avoid wrapping too tightly. Secure the bandages with safety pins.

Final Steps

If you have one, put on the PVC sweat suit. Relax in a reclining position for about an hour. This can most easily be done in the bathtub. Read a book while you are relaxing or listen to soft music. Make sure to drink water while you are relaxing to replenish the fluids lost during the wrap.

Remove the wraps starting at the top and working your way down to the feet. Rinse off with cool water in the shower to completely remove the wrap solution.
