Playing Rockband Drums as an Electric Drum Set
There is an easy way to convert your Rock Band drum set from the Xbox 360 into an electronic drum set through your PC. The whole process takes about a half hour (or a little longer if you want to record your electronic beats) and serves as a great tool for the inner drummer in all of us.
Instructions
1. Download the latest Windows patches for your computer. Your computer will not recognize the peripheral if you don't, so run the "Check for Updates" function on your computer as a precaution.
2. Download the Xbox 360 controller driver. This allows Windows to identify the peripheral once it is plugged in.
3. Go to the Andrew Rudson homepage (see References) and click on the Drum Machine link on the left. Scroll down on the next page until you see a download link. Double-click it.
4. Run the install program. Accept the terms of use and click through a few dialog boxes. Once you are finished, plug in your Rock Band Drum Kit.
5. Run the Drum Machine program by double-clicking on the desktop icon or locating it in the taskbar. The program will display a model of your drum kit and will play the sound from your drumming through the speakers on your PC.
