Laptops can get hot quickly if you aren't taking steps to keep them cool.
Laptops have cooling fans that kick in when the computer starts to get too hot, which you may have heard before. The fans are not as powerful as the ones typically found in desktop computers, which means that it can be difficult to keep a laptop cool. If you have been keeping your laptop on flat, hard surfaces and you are still having a problem keeping it cool, you can employ the best methods to lower the heat in your laptop.
Instructions
1. Power off your laptop and flip it over to see if the laptop has a visible fan vent. Not all laptops do, but if yours does, you can look periodically to see if there is dust buildup in the fan. If so, just lightly blow it out or hold the fan in place while using canned air to blow the dust out.
2. Use your laptop on a cooling pad or cooling mat, which has extra fans on it to keep your laptop from getting too hot. Tech Jaws refers to this device as a "chill mat" and lists it as the best option for keeping a laptop cool. CC: Computers & Technology also lists it as one of the best ways to keep your laptop cool.
3. Keep your laptop on a laptop stand so that air can move under it while it is in use. CC: Computers & Technology recommends this as one of the best ways to keep the laptop from overheating. Some laptop stands also come with cooling fans similar to those on the cooling mat.
