What Are Some Good Weight Loss Tips

People are always seeking good weight loss tips. Weight gain can make a person feel sad, depressed and generally less confident. It is not fun reminiscing about the times when your waistline was slender and your stomach was flat. Reminiscing, however, sometimes motivates us to move ahead and lose those lingering pounds of unwanted fat.

Nutrition Labels

Familiarize yourself with serving sizes by reading the nutrition label on the back of packaged goods. Take a 16 or 20 ounce bottle of soda for instance. Many people believe that the entire bottle is considered one serving. This is false. If you read the label, the serving size may be two or more servings, which means you only should drink half the bottle to consume the amount of calories, fat and sugar on the label.

Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water every day. You generally should drink about a gallon of water per day. Consuming this amount of water cleanses your body of impurities, keeps you hydrated and helps you to remain full, which leads to the consumption of fewer calories per day.

An Apple a Day

Eat more fruits and vegetables per day. Raw fruits and vegetables are low in calories and help cleanse the digestive system, while giving your body the nutrients it needs on a daily basis. Find fruits that cater to your taste buds. If you are not a citrus fruit lover, try bananas, apples, grapes or pears.

There are many vegetables that are pleasing to the palate. The freshest form of vegetation is raw, however, you may lightly sauté or steam them. Make salads with romaine lettuce, spinach, red onion, chick peas, green peas, carrots, tomato and grilled chicken or a scoop of tuna salad.

Cut the Condiments

Lose weight by cutting down your consumption of fatty condiments like butter, cream cheese, extra cheese and mayonnaise. One serving of mayonnaise contains 8 to 10 grams of fat. One serving of butter has 4 to 8 grams of fat. Imagine how much fat you could cut out by substituting honey mustard for mayonnaise.

Add a Little Cardio

Burn calories by doing a moderate cardio routine three times a week. Cardio does not just involve the gym. You can run up and down your stairs at home, take a long walk in the park, swim, ride a bike with your child or play a sport.

Deep-Fried Disasters

Cut out deep fried food. Heavy oils will ruin your diet and your waistline. Quit eating french fries, fried chicken, donuts and other foods that have no good nutritional value.

Count Calories

Consult a physician, nutritionist, personal trainer or the Internet to find your caloric requirements to lose one pound per week. Simply ask how many calories a person of your weight and height should consume per day. Follow up by watching your caloric intake. Minimize your consumption of sugar, products with bleached flour such as white bread, and fatty meats.
