Weight Loss Incentives

Obesity--a growing problem

Obesity is the fastest growing problem in the United States today. The Battle of the Bulge is no longer something just for the middle aged--it is a problem for children and teens, the elderly and twenty-somethings. Unloading those pounds can be far harder than you ever thought. Here are some incentives to get you on the road to healthy weight loss.

Look Better

No, you may never be a supermodel. But you can look better than you do with all those extra pounds! Take off all your clothes and stand in front of a mirror. Look at the bad parts, yes, but find the good things as well. Write them down on a piece of paper or in a journal and what you would like to see in six weeks from that date. Take a tape measure and write down your measurements of bust, waist and hips. Then write down "Weight Loss--Here I Come!" Put the journal away and mark your calendar for six weeks. You have no idea how empowering it can be see the difference six weeks of hard work can make.

Feel Better

Know in your heart and mind that losing those unhealthy pounds will make you feel like a new person. Right now it may be an effort to climb the stairs, play with your children or enjoy outdoor activities--or even bedroom activities. Even losing ten pounds will take 100 pounds of pressure off your knee joints. Imagine how much better your whole body will feel when you shed that fat. Think of yourself as a butterfly emerging from a cocoon.

Reward Yourself

Set a reasonable weight loss goal for your first six weeks and when you achieve it, reward yourself! Do not make it a food reward. Instead, make it new clothes, new shoes, a night out with friends to your favorite movie, or a new piece of software or equipment that you have wanted. Keep that goal in front of you, and make sure the reward is something you really want. Only reward yourself once you reach the goal. Keep yourself honest and get healthy!
