The Yamaha MO6 and MM6 are music synthesizers. Both can be used for professional music creation and performance or for the beginner just learning how it all works.


Uses


The Yamaha MO6 is a professional synthesizer meant to be used for music production and performance. The Yamaha MM6 is more of a home-based synthesizer for music creation and recording.


Features


The Yamaha MO6 and MM6 each have 61 keys. The MO6 has 64-note polyphony, while the MM6 has 32-note polyphony. The MO6 comes with sequence software that can be controlled by a remote control. It also has midi sync and transmit/receive. The MM6 does not come with software but has USB connections and midi in/out ports.


Presets


The Yamaha MO6 comes with 512 preset voices and 64 drum kits. The Yamaha MM6 has 416 voices and 22 drum kits. While the MO6 comes with 64 preset songs and 32 mixing templates, the MM6 has only three preset songs. However, the MM6 can hold up to 400 songs through the USB port.


Cost


Since the Yamaha MO6 has tons of extras and professional quality there is price tag upward of $1,500 (as of 2010). The Yamaha MM6 costs significantly less at about $600 to $700.
