Mentor Breast Implant Specifications

Mentor is a breast implant company founded in 1969 with headquarters in Santa Barbara, California. This plastic surgery supply company makes a range of products for breast augmentations that vary in material and size. These products have different sets of specifications that depend on how intricate the implant is.

MemoryGel

Mentor MemoryGel implants come in three profiles: moderate, moderate plus and high. All of these models vary in volume, projection and diameter. Volume for the moderate and moderate plus profiles ranges from 100 cc to 800 cc, while the volume for the high profile ranges from 125 cc to 800 cc. The diameter for the moderate model ranges from 9.3 cm to 18.2 cm, and the moderate plus sizes from 8.2 cm to 16.5 cm. The diameter for the high profile spans from 8.3 cm to 15.5 cm. The projection changes between each model, as well: moderate ranges from 2.1 cm to 4.1 cm; moderate plus ranges from 2.7 cm to 5.1; and high spans from 3.5 cm to 6.0 cm.

Saline

Mentor also makes implants filled with saline. These implants come in three profile styles: moderate profile style 1600, moderate plus profile style 2000 and high profile style 3000. Specifications provided for these models consist of the nominal fill and maximum fill. Each of these designations contains measurements for volume, diameter and projection. In the saline series of implants, nominal fill volume ranges from 125 cc to 800 cc. Nominal fill diameter runs from 9.0 cm to 16.1 cm, while nominal projection ranges from 3 cm to 6 cm. Maximum fill volume spans from 150 cc to 960 cc, maximum diameter ranges from 8.8 cm to 15.5 cm and maximum projection runs from 3.4 cm to 7.4 cm.

Adjustable

Spectrum adjustable saline implants are designed to allow "surgeons to make adjustments post operatively," according to the Mentor website. Doctors can remove or add saline by a removable fill tube attached to the breast implant. Mentor provides temporary volume and minimum volume details for these implants, as well as minimum fill final volume, diameter and projection and maximum fill final volume, diameter and projection. Temporary volume ranges from 125 cc to 650 cc, while minimum volume ranges from 105 cc to 550 cc. Minimum fill final volume is the same as temporary volume for each adjustable model, while the maximum final volume ranges from 150 cc to 780 cc. The contour profile Spectrum implants provide width and height specifications for models as well.

Sizers

Sizers help surgeons in the operating room decide which implants to insert into patients. These are not permanent implants, but temporary products used during surgery to make sure the correct implant is inserted. Mentor resterilizable sizers are compatible only with the MemoryGel breast implants, while the single-use sizers are used for the saline models. Mentor provides specifications for these sizers, which match up exactly with the specifications for the parallel models.
